the time has come for me to get shot of my dodgy plastic coatedyork weight set (it was ok to start with) and buy an olympic set.
i have spotted a 145ky marcy set priced at £200 which l think is a decent enough set at the kind of money l can afford to spend right now.
has anyone else here ever owned anymarcy equipment and if yes then what did you think of it?

Do not be too quick to toss those plastic weights. I've had my set for 40 years. They are much quieter than metal.

When l bought an olympic set, l got a rubber coated plates.

Marcy is okay from what i've seen for budget set. They have different grades, so without a link to the set you are looking at l can not comment specifically.

The vinyl weights are rubbish. You are wise to rid of them.

The price of cast iron increased recently so the hub plates are more expensive.

The marcy plates (tri grip l assume) are a definate step up from the plastic!
